Each company from the small to large has its own history along with specifics of services and that is a powerful base for identity designers to find bright ideas. An original logo is a good tool for setting the connection with potential customers by transferring the company character and mood.

It may seem difficult to design an absolutely unique symbol because there are so many brands around. However, skilled and experienced designers can find the way to creating a brand sign which will stand out among thousands of others.

Today i’m sharing a case study showing the creative process of a logo design for a Stag Stalker Wine, Tuscany Italy.

Project

To Create Logo & Brand Identity Design for Stag Stalker Wine based in Tuscany, Italy.

About the brand

The brand Stag Stalker Wine is based in Tuscany, Italy. Tuscany is the region with the oldest winemaking traditions, almost everyone is engaged in winemaking. They cultivate, cherish and take care of young and centuries-old vine seedlings like their children. In such a family the founder of “Stag Stalker” was born.

He was creating the best traditional signature wines with his grandfathers, flavoring them with a good combination of love and craftsmanship
of the younger and elder generations.

Process

Stag Stalker provides special type of wine which is famous in Tuscany wine tradition. Based on the brand, the detailed description of the wine and the brand image which the client wanted to set for the target audience, my aim is to create the logo and a set of branded items which would grow brand awareness.

Logo Design

The process of visual branding creation started with Logo Design. Having analyzed the target audience and having done the market research, the designer started developing variants in different types of logo : wordmarks, lettermarks, combination marks, and symbols.

Task

My aim was to build a new brand with a modern touch, yet with a timeless design.

I started with diverse sketches and narrowed them down to the final yield. The finish transformed from the base into an exquisitely crafted logotype and emblem.

The concept behind the logo and it signifies the particular and defined uniqueness of the brand.

The final logo was completed in the style of animal “Deer”, an ancient style of font where letters are shaped in a form of Deer. The shapes applied in symbols have a significant influence on a human mind. Psychology of shapes states that our mood can be changed according to the shapes we are looking at.

The gradient was chosen according to the clients’ expectations. golden color gave the feeling of wine tradition and the gradient made the logo more related to tradition and vintage-looking which responded to a current brand strategy.

Icon

After logo design the best part of the project brand identity design is started. I started sketch for the seal and icons, According to brand all design should be vintage.

After few sketches this is finalised icon and seal.

Lable Design

Labels are the most important part of a product package. It won’t be an exaggeration if we say Labels are the heart and soul of a product package especially when the product is something like food products or medicine or machinery or a chemical product etc. Label design is therefore an essential part of a company’s marketing effort.

Besides lable & other design i’ve prepared some cards for those who don’t drink alchol but enjoy my design :)

Other than that, I made icons for the different flavours and unique packaging for each flavour.

The Challange

The challenge to this project was picking a theme for the wine because I wanted it to be different and out of the box. This project taught me to push my creative thinking and maintain a consistent look throughout my design.

Overall, I would happily do another branding and packaging project. The main struggles of figuring out how to stand out while maintaining the expensive look my audience would be attracted to was an issue I am happy to have overcome.

Conclusion

My main goal overall was for my winery to have the feel of “contemporary elegance” which I would describe as tying both modern and classic styles together. I feel that I was able to establish this through the use of sans serif typefaces in addition to creating white space and the traditional shapes on the wine labels.

Although this project is over a year old now, it was exciting and challenging to give it a bit of a makeover in order to showcase what I have learned throughout my time in the Graphic Design program at Humber. It is still one of my favourite projects to date because I spent a lot of time on it and I had put in so much effort since lockdown. I loved it then and I love it even more now especially with the changes I made. Although they were minor revisions, I feel that they made a difference in the overall appearance of the design and I’m glad I had the opportunity to further my design exploration.

Thank you, the end.

Final Thoughts :
I’ve actually been waiting for a project like this to come up and i am so glad it did through the client I had. We were on the same page all throughout the process and there was the appropriate amount of creative freedom while working within certain restrictions that yielded the best result possible.I’m really excited about how this business will grow and am a big fan of the products already. They really are as soft and comfortable as they say.
